rachel: today i took a picture of my completed pillow…remember the one with the button-hole that i was so excited about the other day? i finished it and sewed on the button for my completed project! the pillow now sits on our loveseat, although i think it is lonely for another pillow with it (don’t worry, i’m working on a partner for it). i love to try to make things…i’m not always successful, nor am i always excited about how things turn out, but i do enjoy taking the time to make something myself. thankfully right now i have a lot of time to do that, and have made quite a few things for our apartment. it is so fun to see something you’ve created and then to have it put up somewhere in our apartment is just a beautiful thing.

matt: after a long day of not feeling good, i left work and saw this tree with the beautiful backdrop of stormy clouds. that was kind of the story of my day. feeling bad and storms all around me. feeling like we are in the middle of a storm at this moment, yet there was this calm, peaceful breeze (well, it is chicago so it was like a 20 mph wind but it felt calm). there was this tree standing tall. as the sun peaked through and drops of drizzle came, the wind blew and yet there i was reminded that in the midst of life’s storms, in the middle of our own little plan b, we stand firm on the rock of faith. the wind will blow and rattle our leaves, but we (the tree) will remain faithful, even among the storms of life. There was also a devotional that really hit me this day from Philippians 4:6-7, “6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

us: this is us talking to one of our favorite people, david…we love speaker phone because we get to chat with friends and family with both of us there…its kind of like we’re with them!
